Edinburgh University<\/a> has narrowly missed out on the top ten of a new league table.<\/p>\n

Released by The Guardian<\/a>, the table scores various universities across a range of metrics, with the prestigious Oxford University coming out top.<\/p>\n

An overall score of 100 is given by using data from various benchmarks: Satisfied with teaching; Satisfied with feedback; Student to staff ratio; Spend per student; Average entry tariff; Value added score; Career after 15 months and Continuation.<\/p>\n

Edinburgh hit a score of 69.4 out of 100 which landed it in 13th place – two up from last years Guardian table.<\/p>\n

The capital institution scored highest in the Satisfaction with teacher and Continuation criteria.<\/p>\n

Heriot-Watt University<\/a> saw a massive leap, moving up from 66th last year 33rd in the UK. It had an overall score of 60.9 out of 100.<\/p>\n

Edinburgh Napier<\/a> also moved up two spots from 96th to 94th – scoring 47.1 out of 100.<\/p>\n

Queen Margaret however fell in the rankings, going from 91st last year to 97th. They scored 46.1 out of 100.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in Scotland, St Andrews came in second place. While Aberdeen was the next highest Scottish university, landing in 18th, six spots down from last year.<\/p>\n

Strathclyde was close by in 19th, down to spots from 17th in 2025.<\/p>\n

Glasgow fell a whopping ten spots from 14th last year to 24th in 2026. Meanwhile Dundee climbed from 52nd to 26th.<\/p>\n

Abertay also climbed up the rankings, going from 79th to 55th. Robert Gordon landed in 92nd, up from 95th.<\/p>\n

Stirling fell from 94th to 104th meanwhile Glasgow Caledonian fell incredibly from 46th last year to 105th. West of Scotland fell from 121st last year to last place in 123rd.<\/p>\n
