The list of conditions supported through Attendance Allowance is long, nearly 50, but the most common disabling condition &#8211; an umbrella term used by the DWP &#8211; is <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/pensioners-arthritis-claim-attendance-allowance-35885646\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"arthritisLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">arthritis<\/a>, which provides support for 508,964 people across Great Britain, including 46,798 in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">For anyone considering making a new application for Attendance Allowance, guidance on <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/attendance-allowance\/how-to-claim\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"GOV.UKLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">GOV.UK<\/a> states that the new online service will only accept a \u201climited number of applications each week\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">It\u2019s important to be aware that you cannot apply online using a mobile phone or tablet, it must be a desktop or laptop computer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">People can also apply through the post by either printing and submitting the Attendance Allowance claim form on GOV.UK <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/attendance-allowance-claim-form#full-publication-update-history\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"hereLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>, or by contacting the helpline on 0800 731 0122 to request one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">For those applying by post, the DWP recently updated the guidance to remind claimants not to \u201cwrite anything except the Freepost address on the envelope\u201d &#8211; they also said it does not need a postcode or a stamp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Commenting on the online application process, a DWP spokesperson recently said: \u201cWe are temporarily testing a new online service to make claiming Attendance Allowance easier and to improve accessibility.
