That\u2019s if you find yourself going past it at all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">For <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/toxteth\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Toxteth<\/a> residents, the plethora of dining and drinking spots on<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/lark-lane\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" Lark LaneLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Lark Lane<\/a> which spill onto adjoining stretches of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/aigburth\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Aigburth<\/a> Road might leave any suggestion of going beyond the point <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/garston\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Garston<\/a> boundary met with a sigh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Though on a recent commute home, I cycled past a spot that I couldn\u2019t help but return to. Ignoring the temptation of my usual favourite, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/we-close-pub-week-after-31256694\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"The Little TaproomLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">The Little Taproom<\/a> and the twinkling lights of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/cosy-liverpool-pub-fulwood-arms-16954041\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"The Fulwood ArmsLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">The Fulwood Arms<\/a>, I carried on past the houses and churches until a small wine bar shone out on my right.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">It was the simple charm of this bar that first intrigued me. Painted all black with simple serifed white lettering, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/i-went-fix-toilet-now-28983431\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Cressington Wine BarLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Cressington Wine Bar<\/a> serves wine, cocktails, beers and small plates and has much more to it than meets the eye.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_unnamed-2025-09-12T162924209.jpg\" alt=\"The view into Cressington Wine Bar \" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The view into Cressington Wine Bar (Image: Ray Bonsall\/Liverpool ECHO )<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">With two large windows looking onto the street, and emitting a romantic red glow, a few diners sat at tables for two with others dotted and perched on stools at a small bar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Doubting whether this was the kind of place to walk in without a booking, let alone alone in trainers, I stepped in timidly but was soon put at ease as a waiter showed me to a seating area at the back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">I quickly relaxed as I realised that despite its outside appearance, this cosy bar and kitchen wasn\u2019t solely filled with couples on anniversary dates but with after work drinkers, friends catching up and even someone with a laptop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Despite its romantic air and restaurant-worthy menu of small plates, this place has retained the casual and unpretentious atmosphere of a caf\u00e9 or micropub. What looks like a small venue is much bigger inside and can suit all needs from an after work pint to a first date and there is even a walled <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/18-bars-pubs-restaurants-perfect-31889076\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"beer garden out the back.Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">beer garden out the back.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Honouring the wine bar element of the venue, I ordered a small glass of red which came in a generous glass for \u00a34 (a large was \u00a38). Orange wines and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/genius-way-open-bottle-sparkling-30679821\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"sparkling winesLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">sparkling wines<\/a> were on offer too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">I settled in as a singer with an acoustic guitar delivered crowd pleasers and pop hits followed by gentle applause from drinkers in the back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">While the front was alluring the d\u00e9cor in the back was somewhat lacking with fake plastic candles and hanging plants, as well as a view straight into the florescent lit kitchen. Though I can imagine it as the perfect spot for quiet evening with friends or hiding away with a book.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_unnamed-2025-09-12T162947208.jpg\" alt=\"Seating at the wine bar \" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>There was more seating further back too plus a beer garden (Image: Ray Bonsall\/Liverpool ECHO )<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">By around 8:45pm things had picked up and the five or six tables in the area where I was sat were filled, mostly with friends in their early to mid 20s filling the space with a warming hum of voices.
