{"id":422219,"date":"2025-09-13T22:54:19","date_gmt":"2025-09-13T22:54:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/422219\/"},"modified":"2025-09-13T22:54:19","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T22:54:19","slug":"sam-querrey-suggests-if-novak-djokovic-will-want-to-surpass-jimmy-connors-record-for-the-most-atp-titles-of-all-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/422219\/","title":{"rendered":"Sam Querrey suggests if Novak Djokovic will want to surpass Jimmy Connors&#8217; record for the most ATP titles of all time"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Novak Djokovic may have had his last chance of clinching major title number 25, but there is another record he might have his eyes on going forward. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After coming through his quarter of the draw at the US Open, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/novak-djokovic-set-to-withdraw-from-another-atp-event-after-us-open-semifinal-defeat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Djokovic lost to Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> in the semifinals, marking yet another final-four defeat at a Grand Slam in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Serb has reached the penultimate stage at all four major events this year, but has been unable to advance to the final. <\/p>\n<p>While his run at Flushing Meadows could have been his last best shot at the feat, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/novak-djokovic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Djokovic<\/a> can still become the all-time leader in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ATP<\/a> Titles. <\/p>\n<p>With 100 tour-level crowns to his name currently, he needs just 10 more to surpass <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jimmy-connors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jimmy Connors<\/a>\u2018 tally of 109, which former American tennis star Sam Querrey thinks he could easily manage. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2233914829-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Novak Djokovic of Serbia acknowledges the crowd as he walks off the court after losing to Carlos Alcaraz of Spain during their Men's Semifinal match on Day Thirteen of the 2025 US Open at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.\" class=\"wp-image-127902\" \/>Photo by Clive Brunskill\/Getty ImagesSam Querrey discusses Novak Djokovic\u2019s chances of adding more ATP titles to his name<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the \u2018Nothing Major\u2019 podcast, Querrey said of the record: \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s important to him based on what his calendar was this year. The last three tournaments he played were Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Novak wanted to surpass those guys, he could. He could load up with 250s and win them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe saw this year he made the semifinals of all four majors, so in major tournaments he\u2019s the third-best player in the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd what\u2019s he ranked right now\u2014seven? I think he\u2019s generally looked at as the third-best player in the world right now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe could go sign up for a handful of 250s this year and probably win ten of them.
