A 37-year-old man has been charged with a series of attacks on synagogues in northwest London.<\/p>\n

Ionut-Cristian Bold, of no fixed address, has been charged with six counts of racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage and one count of racially or religiously aggravated harassment without violence.<\/p>\n

The Metropolitan Police<\/a> said four synagogues and a private residence had a substance smeared on them in northwest London between 4 September and 11 September.<\/p>\n

Other incidents, which police described as “revolting and appalling”, involved liquid being thrown towards a school and over a car in Barnet, north London.<\/p>\n

It is understood the substance and liquid were bodily fluids.<\/p>\n

Bold has also been charged with three counts of destruction or damage to property and also of having an article with intent to destroy or damage property.<\/p>\n

He was remanded in custody to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday.<\/p>\n

Superintendent Zubin Writer, who leads local policing in Barnet, Brent and Harrow, said: “We will always treat allegations of this nature extremely seriously and these charges follow an investigation by a team of local officers.<\/p>\n

“We continue to offer support to local residents, including members of the Jewish community.”<\/p>\n

Barry Rawlings, leader of Barnet Council, condemned the attack, saying: “The horrendous antisemitic attacks on our synagogues and a school disgust us.
