Gary Neville asked if something was ‘allowed’ on air following a controversial moment during Manchester City vs. Aston Villa. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Man City<\/a> opened the scoring at the Etihad as Omar Marmoush created an opening before his deflected pass found its way to Bernardo Silva, who slotted home.<\/p>\n

But Villa<\/a> levelled proceedings 11 minutes later when Marcus Rashford<\/a> converted a penalty.<\/p>\n

Ruben Dias tripped Jacob Ramsey inside the box, with Craig Pawson not interested in the collision until he was told to go to VAR.<\/p>\n

Following a VAR review, Pawson pointed to the spot to the dismay of Dias, who remonstrated the decision to award a penalty.<\/p>\n

Before Villa took the penalty, the incident was shown on the big screen, with Man City players and fans reacting to Dias’ foul on Ramsey.<\/p>\n

Loud boos could be heard inside the stadium as Man City players protested the decision.<\/p>\n

On Sky Sports commentary, Neville<\/a> questioned if showing a replay on the big screen was ‘allowed’.<\/p>\n

He said: “He leaves his right leg in, it’s clever. They showed a replay on the big screen… are they allowed to do that?”<\/p>\n

Rashford made no mistake from the resulting penalty as he coolly sent Stefan Ortega the wrong way to make it 1-1.<\/p>\n

Pep Guardiola<\/a> was booked after Villa’s equaliser, with Dias also being shown a yellow card.<\/p>\n

The Premier League<\/a> issued a statement shortly after the VAR incident.<\/p>\n

On X, they wrote: “VAR checked the referee\u2019s call of no penalty to Aston Villa for a challenge by Dias on Ramsey – and deemed there was a clear trip and recommended an on-field review. The referee overturned the original decision and awarded a penalty to Aston Villa.”<\/p>\n

During the break, Sky Sports host Kelly Cates confirmed replays are shown if a decision is overturned by VAR as Roy Keane agreed with the award of the penalty.<\/p>\n
