Residents at an assisted living complex were said to be living in fear after a murder probe was launched.<\/p>\n
A man\u2019s body was found at The Laurels, a Birmingham<\/a> City Council-run care complex with 32 flats, in Grange Lane, Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield, on Wednesday, August 27.<\/p>\n Police and the ambulance service were alerted at 9.31am. West Midlands Ambulance Service said: \u201cSadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n READ MORE: Murder arrest after man\u2019s body found at council-run accommodation<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Officers arrested a woman on suspicion of murder. She was later released on police bail<\/p>\n West Midlands Police<\/a> initially said the man\u2019s death was being treated as \u2018unexplained\u2019.<\/p>\n A force spokesman said: \u201cA man\u2019s body was discovered at an address in Grange Lane, Sutton Coldfield<\/a>, shortly before 9.50am on Wednesday, August 27.<\/p>\n \u201cAt this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained.<\/p>\n \u201dA forensic post-mortem will be carried out in due course to help establish the cause of death.\u201d<\/p>\n The force later said the post-mortem examination had proved \u2018inconclusive\u2019.<\/p>\n In a further statement it added: \u201cA forensic post-mortem has been conducted.<\/p>\n “The results are currently inconclusive and further inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.\u201d<\/p>\n Upon further questioning from BirminghamLive, West Midlands Police finally revealed this week that a murder investigation had been launched<\/a>.<\/p>\n Read more: Man found dead at council flats complex with police investigating<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Residents have raised concerns about the incident with fears for their safety.<\/p>\n A woman at the accommodation, who asked not to be named, told BirminghamLive: \u201cWe don\u2019t feel safe. We have had to lock our doors. We don\u2019t know what happened.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have weekly checks on our flats and obviously they hadn\u2019t been checking.
