{"id":422948,"date":"2025-09-14T05:49:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-14T05:49:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/422948\/"},"modified":"2025-09-14T05:49:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-14T05:49:10","slug":"london-vegetable-orchestra-performs-at-islington-grow-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/422948\/","title":{"rendered":"London Vegetable Orchestra performs at Islington Grow Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  But that\u2019s what was witnessed by hundreds of gardeners at Islington\u2019s second annual Grow Show for food growing and sustainability.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  They listened to the London Vegetable Orchestra playing on vegetable instruments \u2014 like the \u2018pepper pipe\u2019, the \u2018turnip trombone\u2019 and the \u2018carrot clarinet\u2019.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The show staged at Whittington Park Community Centre on Sunday, September 7 attracted 800 seasoned cultivators and passionate beginners, with a medley of flowers, fruit, vegetables and herbs.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The enthusiasts had grown tomatoes, peppers and herbs in small spaces on balconies, windowsills and in community gardens.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cGrowing and sharing food brings people together right in the heart of London,\u201d Barefoot Planter founder Chauntelle Lewis said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cOne thing I learned from the community gardens on estates I visited in Archway is that the people make the space.
