{"id":423242,"date":"2025-09-14T08:30:23","date_gmt":"2025-09-14T08:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/423242\/"},"modified":"2025-09-14T08:30:23","modified_gmt":"2025-09-14T08:30:23","slug":"nepals-major-parties-say-dissolved-parliament-must-be-reinstated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/423242\/","title":{"rendered":"Nepal&#8217;s major parties say dissolved parliament must be reinstated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Saturday&#8217;s statement demanding the reinstatement of the parliament was signed by the chief whips of the eight political parties. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">They argued the step taken by the president was unconstitutional and against the precedents set by Nepal&#8217;s judiciary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The dissolution of the parliament was a major demand by student leaders from the so-called &#8220;Gen Z&#8221; protest movement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">But the eight parties say the protesters&#8217; demands &#8211; including new elections announced for 5 March next year &#8211; should be addressed through an institution voted by the people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Later on Saturday, President Poudel urged all sides to show restraint and help conduct the elections. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In a statement, he said a peaceful resolution was being achieved in a &#8220;very&#8230; difficult and scary situation&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;The constitution is alive, the parliamentary system is alive and the federal democratic republic still exists.
