Tim Booth &#8216;disgusted&#8217; as song used at Tommy Robinson march<\/p>\n<p>\n  Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Booth said: &#8220;Disgusted to see the cynical use of \u2018Sit Down\u2019by Tommy Robinson.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;No permission was granted, and we are looking into our options.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The song and most of our topical lyrics make it very clear where we stand, and it\u2019s the antithesis of this organisation.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Booth has fronted the English rock band James since it formed in 1982, and since its reunion in 2007.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p>\n    Disgusted to see the cynical use of \u2018Sit Down\u2019by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TRobinsonNewEra?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">@TRobinsonNewEra<\/a>.<br \/>No permission was granted, and we are looking into our options.<br \/>The song and most of our topical lyrics, make it very clear where we stand, and it\u2019s the antithesis of this organization\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    \u2014 Tim Booth (@RealTimBooth) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealTimBooth\/status\/1966896623327522893?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">September 13, 2025<\/a>\n  <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\n  Sit Down is one of, if not the band&#8217;s most famous song, which, when it was re-released in shorter form in 1991, reached number two on the UK Singles Chart.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In 2013, the song placed fourth in a poll by BBC Radio 2 and the Official Charts Company to find the greatest track to miss out on the number-one spot in the UK charts.\n<\/p>\n<p>  What were the protests in London for?<\/p>\n<p>\n  There were two main marches in the capital yesterday, Saturday, September 13.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The first, called &#8220;Unite the Kingdom&#8221;, was organised by activist Tommy Robinson,\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A counter-protest, dubbed March Against Fascism, organised by Stand Up To Racism (SUTR), also took place.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It is believed that between 110,000 and 150,000 people turned out for <a href=\"https:\/\/\/news\/national\/uk-today\/25464537.london-protests-today-explained-thousands-descend-city\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Robinson&#8217;s protest<\/a> , while around 5,000 anti-racism campaigners mounted the counter-protest.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>Recommended reading:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  At least 25 people were arrested and 26 police officers were injured, including four who were seriously hurt, at the far-right activist\u2019s event.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  People were arrested for a range of offences, including affray, violent disorder, assault and criminal damage, after both events began largely without incident.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Police said the Robinson crowd was too big to fit into Whitehall, and a confrontation happened when officers tried to stop them from encircling counter-protesters and accessing the area from different routes.\n<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Tim Booth, the frontman of James, has said he was left &#8220;disgusted&#8221;
