It also warns people who are pregnant to avoid this.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"mb-4\">\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">To make sure ibuprofen tablets, capsules, granules or liquid is safe for you, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">have ever had bleeding in your stomach or a hole (perforation) in your stomach caused by an NSAID<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">have had a hole (perforation) in your stomach, bleeding in your stomach or a stomach ulcer more than once<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">have a health problem that means you have an increased chance of bleeding<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">have severe heart failure, severe kidney failure or severe liver failure<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">are pregnant or trying to get pregnant<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">have high blood pressure that&#8217;s not under control<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">have heart disease or mild to moderate heart failure, or have ever had a stroke<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">have kidney or liver problems<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">have asthma, hay fever or allergies<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">have Crohn&#8217;s disease or ulcerative colitis<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">have chickenpox \u2013 taking ibuprofen can increase the chance of certain infections and skin reactions<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">If you&#8217;re over 65, taking ibuprofen can increase your risk of developing stomach ulcers. If you need to take ibuprofen for a long-term condition, your doctor may also prescribe a medication to help protect your stomach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">To make sure ibuprofen applied to the skin is safe for you, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"mb-4\">\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\"\/>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\"\/>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\"\/>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\"\/>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">What are the common side effects of tablets, capsules, granules and liquid?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">These common side effects of oral ibuprofen occur in more than one in 100 people:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"mb-4\">\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\"\/>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\"\/>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\"\/>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\"\/>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Contact a doctor or ring 111 immediately and cease taking ibuprofen if you have:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"mb-4\">\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">black poo or blood in your vomit \u2013 these can be signs of bleeding in your stomach<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">swollen ankles, blood in your pee or not peeing at all \u2013 these can be signs of a kidney problem<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Dial 999 or head to A&amp;E now if:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"mb-4\">\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">you have severe chest or stomach pain \u2013 these can be signs of a hole in your stomach or gut<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">you have difficulty breathing, or asthma symptoms that become worse<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">you get a severe headache, a high temperature or stiff neck, and a dislike of bright lights \u2013 these can be signs or inflammation of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord (meninges)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">you have blurred vision or you see or hear things that are not real (hallucinations)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In rare instances, it&#8217;s possible to have a serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to ibuprofen. You should dial 999 if:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"mb-4\">\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">your lips, mouth, throat or tongue suddenly become swollen<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">you&#8217;re breathing very fast or struggling to breathe (you may become very wheezy or feel like you&#8217;re choking or gasping for air)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">your throat feels tight or you&#8217;re struggling to swallow<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">your skin, tongue or lips turn blue, grey or pale (if you have black or brown skin, this may be easier to see on the palms of your hands or soles of your feet)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">you suddenly become very confused, drowsy or dizzy<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">someone faints and cannot be woken up<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">a child is limp, floppy or not responding like they normally do (their head may fall to the side, backwards or forwards, or they may find it difficult to lift their head or focus on your face)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In their conclusion, the NHS advises that if you or someone you know develops a rash that is swollen, raised, itchy, blistered or peeling, it could indicate a serious allergic reaction. In this case, immediate hospital treatment will likely be required.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Additionally, ibuprofen can cause ulcers in the stomach or gut, especially when taken orally in high doses or over a long period.
