At the end of the 26 mile route the cavalcade of almost 300 horses\u00a0and riders arrived at Horse Wynd Roundabout in Holyrood Park, where they fell in behind George Watsons Pipe Band and began the journey past The Scottish Parliament, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and onward up the Royal Mile.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

The procession was led by the Edinburgh Principal Riders, Edinburgh Captain Adam Geehan carrying the City of Edinburgh Banner and to his left, Edinburgh Lass Kirsten Lees.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They were mounted on \u2018grey\u2019 horses and led a procession including mounted officers of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and her Lady in Waiting, Robert Aldridge, the Rt Hon Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, Colin Cunningham, Lord Provost Consort and Norma Cuthbertson, Executive Assistant to the Lord Provost and Clerk to the Lieutenancy, riders from the 29 Riding Towns of Scotland who are identified by their different coloured Town sashes or coloured regalia and some visiting international riders.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Further up The Royal Mile and ahead of the mounted cavalcade processional parties and flag-bearers proceeded on foot to the Mercat Cross including\u00a0Cllr Lezley Marion Cameron, Depute Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, City Officers, Deacon Convener of the Incorporated Trades of Edinburgh, Dean of Guild, the High Constables of Edinburgh, Members of the Incorporated Trades of Edinburgh, The Company of Merchants of the City of Edinburgh and Members of the Edinburgh Exiles Society.<\/p>\n
