Of course tube drivers are important for keeping London running smoothly (Letters, 11 September<\/a>). But how about a mention for bus drivers who, when working hours and holiday entitlements are taken into account, earn about half of what a tube driver earns<\/a>? Is driving a tube train really twice as difficult as driving a bus? Also, London bus drivers carry a million more passengers<\/a> a day than tube drivers.

Boris Johnson was paid \u00a35m from 34 paid appearances (The Boris Files, 9 September<\/a>). This is an average of \u00a3147,000 per speech \u2013 proof that there\u2019s a lot of money in flannel, wiff-waff, waffle, bluster and blather.

I fail to imagine what such public duties might be, particularly as she showed no interest in serving the\u00a0public while in office.

With respect to giving way to other drivers (Letters, 11 September<\/a>), my son-in-law and I have both noticed that if you let a car in, the driver shows their gratitude almost immediately by letting another car in. Kindness to one leads to kindness to another.
