Fourth straight late winner sets record as Salah moves outright fourth in all-time goalscoring list<\/p>\n

For the fourth time in four matches this season, Liverpool<\/a> scored a late winner to continue their perfect start to the 2025\/26 Premier League campaign.<\/p>\n

After Federico Chiesa<\/a>\u2019s 88th-minute goal restored Liverpool\u2019s lead in the 4-2 opening weekend win over AFC Bournemouth<\/a>, Rio Ngumoha<\/a>\u2019s strike in the 10th minute of stoppage time at Newcastle United<\/a> and Dominik Szoboszlai<\/a>\u2019s 83rd-minute free-kick at home to Arsenal<\/a>, Mohamed Salah<\/a> struck from the penalty spot in the fifth minute of stoppage time to secure victory at Burnley<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In doing so, Liverpool became the first team in Premier League history to win four consecutive matches thanks to a winning goal scored in the final 10 minutes or later.<\/p>\n

The Reds have scored 47 winning goals in the Premier League in the 90th minute or later, at least 13 more than any other side.<\/p>\n

The match at Burnley was the first time that such a winner had come from Salah, even if he had provided assists to five of the previous goals in the 90th minute or later.<\/p>\n

Salah\u2019s penalty was his 188th Premier League goal, taking him outright fourth in the all-time goalscoring rankings, ahead of Andrew Cole<\/a>\u2019s 187, and behind only Wayne Rooney<\/a>, Harry Kane<\/a>\u00a0and Alan Shearer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The spot-kick also made Salah Liverpool\u2019s record scorer from the penalty spot in their league history, with 35 successful conversions, surpassing Billy Liddell\u2019s tally of 34.<\/p>\n

“At the end of the day it was a penalty and Mo scored it perfectly\u201d, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk<\/a> told Sky Sports. \u201cHe is a world-class player and we know he can deliver in these moments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking after the match, Salah, whose goal at Turf Moor was only his second of the season, three behind early Golden Boot frontrunner Erling Haaland, revealed it’s taking time for Liverpool’s new players to adapt to Arne Slot’s tactics.<\/p>\n

“Tough opponent today, we tried our best to get the ball between the lines,\u201d Salah told Sky Sports. \u201cIt was tough, but I am glad we managed it.<\/p>\n

“We have a few new players in the starting line-up and it takes time to adapt to our game and we try our best to make them confident in our game.<\/p>\n

“We don’t give up.
