Bricks fell down onto a pavement from an abandoned building resulting in a road closure being put in place. Emergency services were called to Seaforth Road<\/a> on Saturday following reports of an unsafe building.<\/p>\n Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service<\/a> said its crews were first alerted to the issue at 11.58am and were on the scene seven minutes later with a fire engine and an aerial appliance.<\/p>\n Crews found bricks from an abandoned three-storey building had fallen onto the pavement below. Crews cordoned off the area and requested assistance.<\/p>\n A Sefton<\/a> Council structural engineer assessed the building’s safety and Merseyside Police<\/a> was in place to manage road closures.<\/p>\n A local man who notified the ECHO<\/a> about the ongoing issue said: “The building has been in a very bad state for years after a fire and was left to rot. Now it’s started to crumble.<\/p>\n “Locals around here think it’s going to collapse and it was lucky no-one was injured this time.”<\/p>\n Pictures taken by the ECHO<\/a> at the scene show a significant amount of brick debris littering the ground on the pavement. Police and fire service tape blocks off the area directly below the building.<\/p>\n A takeaway pizza restaurant directly next door to the affected building remained open this evening.
