Police were forced to tackle a male armed with a 15inch blade as he tried to run from officers in Birmingham city centrePolice shared bodycam footage from the incident <\/p>\n

Police arrested two men after a dramatic incident at Birmingham<\/a> New Street station in the city centre.<\/p>\n

Officers rushed to the landmark after spotting a few suspects they “wanted to speak to” on Thursday evening, September 11.<\/p>\n

Th suspects tried to run from officers, sparking a “struggle” at around 7pm. Drugs were thrown onto the train tracks at New Street by one of the men.<\/p>\n

It led to delays as Network Rail and British Transport Police helped to recover the drugs.<\/p>\n

Another suspect, who was hiding a 15inch machete tucked into his trousers, was tackled by one of the officers.<\/p>\n

Police from the Guardian taskforce – which cracks down on gangs and violence – shared a still showing bodycam footage of the incident.<\/p>\n

Both males are now in custody. The officers said: “Team 2 deployed to the city centre, and saw few people we wanted to speak to.<\/p>\n

“They tried to run, prompting a struggle. One male threw drugs onto the tracks of New Street, the other had a 15-inch machete tucked and was tackled by PC Bassi. Both in custody!<\/p>\n
