Prince Harry insisted his shocking 2023 memoir \u201cSpare\u201d was \u201cnot about revenge\u201d or \u201cdirty laundry\u201d \u2014 and that his \u201cconscience is clear\u201d despite the shockwaves it sent<\/a> through the royal family.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected,\u201d Harry, who turns 41 on Monday, told the Guardian<\/a> in a recent interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear,\u201d he added. \u201cIt is not about revenge, it is about accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Copies\u201cSpare\u201d was released in 2023 and included shocking claims about feuds between the two royal sons. Paul Martinka<\/p>\n

Harry\u2019s defiant comments came just days after he visited with his father \u2014 King Charles \u2014 for the first time in 19 months<\/a>, in what many believe is an effort to reconnect with the royal family after largely disavowing them and moving to the United States in 2020.<\/p>\n

That meeting lasted less than an hour, and Harry continued on to Ukraine to visit with injured veterans and soldiers still fighting Russia there.<\/p>\n

Harry\u2019s trip to see his father notably did not include a visit with his older brother, Prince William, who was the subject of one of the more shocking tales in \u201cSpare.\u201d<\/p>\n

The heir to the throne once allegedly attacked his younger brother during a moment of rage, according to Harry\u2019s writing, which states he was left with \u201cscrapes and bruises.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[He] grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor,\u201d the book read.<\/p>\n

Other claims in the tome included allegations that Charles regularly prioritized William\u2019s needs<\/a> over Harry\u2019s, and that the king was extremely jealous of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Harry insisted to the Guardian that he had no qualms about what he\u2019d written.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
