The best-selling car<\/a> in Europe is making a colossal comeback with a noteworthy new look, putting it in direct competition with rivals including Tesla and Toyota.<\/p>\n

The Renault Clio<\/a> \u2014 a familiar sight on British roads for more than 30 years \u2014 was unveiled in its sixth-generation form at the 2025 Munich Motor Show on September 8. Since its launch in 1990, the Clio has sold more than 1.3 million models in the UK, cementing its position as a market leader.<\/p>\n

Renault<\/a> proudly announced that the Clio was officially crowned Europe’s top-selling car of 2025, with approximately 130,500 units sold in Europe in the first half of the year. Over the decades, the sporty little runaround has picked up numerous awards, including the coveted European Car of the Year titles in 1991 and 2006.<\/p>\n

When the sixth-generation model launches in the UK in 2027, buyers can choose between two powertrains. The first will be a hybrid version, equipped with a 160hp E-Tech engine designed to deliver record-low CO2 emissions while achieving impressive fuel economy<\/a> of up to 72mpg. The petrol option features a 1.2-litre turbo engine producing 115hp, combined with a manual gearbox for driving enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

In the UK market, current Clio sales are already tilted toward electrification, with around 60 per cent of buyers choosing hybrids, highlighting the growing demand for greener technology<\/a>. Although official prices are yet to be confirmed, industry insiders expect them to remain in line with the existing ranges.<\/p>\n

The exterior of the new Renault Clio draws from the Embleme concept car unveiled last year. Renault described it as adopting “sensual” lines, coupe-inspired roofline and a bold new LED lights. The car’s dimensions have also grown slightly compared with its predecessors.<\/p>\n

It also features hidden door handles, a steeply sloping window, sleek taillights, bold black wheel arches, 18-inch rims and a wider track. Buyers will also be able to choose from seven colour finishes.<\/p>\n

Inside, Renault has introduced notable upgrades. The redesigned dashboard incorporates new materials and subtly integrated ambient LED lighting, with 48 colour options available to personalise the cabin. A 10.1-inch screen setup dominates the centre console, with Google<\/a>, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay included.<\/p>\n

Managing Director of Renault UK, Adam Wood, said: “We are delighted that the success story of the iconic Renault Clio will continue. A new generation of Clio allows us to maintain our dual strategy of offering bespoke EV and ICE vehicles into the next decade, in a segment of the market that Renault has always been famous for.”<\/p>\n
