Metallica<\/a> kicked off their first show of the year on Saturday (April 19) \u2013 check out the full set list below.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The band performed a career-spanning set at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York, with songs from nine of their 10 studio albums being played on the night.<\/p>\n

The band opened with classics \u2018Creeping Death\u2019 and \u2018For Whom the Bell Tolls\u2019 and followed with a set full of their greatest hits. <\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Metallica\u00a0released the first trailer for their new documentary Metallica Saved My Life.<\/a><\/p>\n

The forthcoming film is set to be screened in cities on the North American leg of the band\u2019s \u2018M72\u2019 world tour<\/a>. An official synopsis describes the project as \u201cnot-quite-finished\u201d, and that it \u201cexplores the world of Metallica through the lives of their fans\u201d.<\/p>\n

The clip, which you can see here<\/a>, features testimonials from various fans talking about what the metal pioneers mean to them, from a survivor of a civil war calling the group as \u201cthe soundtrack to my life\u201d, to the Metallica subculture in Botswana, whose members describe their sound as giving them a \u201clion heart\u201d.<\/p>\n

The affectionate trailer is punctuated with comments from the band, with drummer Lars Ulrich<\/a> saying: \u201cMetallica is all of us together, it belongs to all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film is directed by Jonas \u00c5kerlund, a legendary music video director who first worked with the band on the promo for their 1999 version of the traditional Irish song \u2018Whiskey In The Jar\u2019. He also directed the videos for \u2018Telephone\u2019 by Lady Gaga<\/a> feat. Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>, as well as \u2018Ray Of Light\u2019 by Madonna<\/a>.<\/p>\n
