{"id":426705,"date":"2025-09-15T16:39:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-15T16:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/426705\/"},"modified":"2025-09-15T16:39:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-15T16:39:11","slug":"icelandair-lands-in-edinburgh-route-to-be-extended-to-year-round-as-inaugural-flight-departs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/426705\/","title":{"rendered":"Icelandair lands in Edinburgh Route to be extended to year-round as inaugural flight departs."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Icelandair has landed at Edinburgh Airport for the first time ever, expanding choice for passengers looking to travel to Iceland and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>The airline\u2019s new service between Edinburgh and Reykjavik will now be year-round rather than just September to April such has been the popularity of the route since it was announced.<\/p>\n<p>The route\u2019s inaugural flight departed Scotland\u2019s capital today, with a celebration reception held in the terminal as passengers were given a special edition luggage tag celebrating 80 years of Icelandair flying to Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>The service will operate on a Boeing 737 MAX 8 up to four times a week, connecting Edinburgh Air-port to Keflav\u00edk International Airport. It provides direct connectivity to Iceland\u2019s capital city, as well as onward transatlantic connections to a range of destinations.<\/p>\n<p>Stephanie Wear, Chief Commercial Officer at Edinburgh Airport said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great to see Icelandair finally land at Edinburgh Airport. It\u2019s the fruition of years of hard work from both sides, and we\u2019re delighted to welcome this newest airline to Scotland\u2019s capital \u2013 and to mark the inaugural flight by announcing the service will now extend year-round is fantastic news.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, it\u2019s a new flight and a new airline, but it\u2019s also a signal of new possibilities and opportuni-ties.
