Marc Guehi may make a move to Liverpool in January after his deadline day transfer from Crystal Palace fell through.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is the verdict of football finance expert Dan Plumley, who told Football Insider<\/strong> exclusively that the \u00a335million [BBC Sport<\/a>] fee that was agreed for the defender represented \u201creally good value\u201d.<\/p>\n

Guehi agreed to join Liverpool on deadline day<\/a>, solving the issue of the Reds\u2019 lack of depth defensively.<\/p>\n

The Premier League<\/a> champions looked to have secured one of the bargains of the window thanks to the England international\u2019s contract having just one year remaining.<\/p>\n

However, Crystal Palace cancelled Guehi\u2019s move to Liverpool<\/a> in the final hours of the transfer window as they failed to secure a replacement.<\/p>\n

As a result, the 25-year-old can now negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs in January or alternatively, Arne Slot<\/a>\u2018s side could look to sign the defender for a cut-price fee before he leaves the Eagles in the summer.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider<\/strong>, Plumley explained that a January move for Guehi would likely come down to the \u201cgoodwill\u201d between the two clubs. <\/p>\n

The Telegraph<\/a> reports that Liverpool<\/a> will not make a cash bid for the defender in the coming transfer window, although there were similar reports that claimed the Reds would not continue their pursuit of Alexander Isak after having a bid rejected for \u00a3110m at the beginning of August [BBC Sport<\/a>].<\/p>\n

Plumley explained: \u201cThis is an interesting one, isn\u2019t it? Because it\u2019s counter to some of the examples we\u2019ve seen with [Alexander] Isak and [Yoane] Wissa.<\/p>\n

\u201cGuehi didn\u2019t force a move, he didn\u2019t kind of come out publicly, and he conducted himself really well during the window, and actually, \u00a335m in the context of the fees we\u2019ve seen is really good value for a player like him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis one is going to depend on where the goodwill is left in that transfer kind of scenario.\u201d<\/p>\n

Federico Chiesa facing January exit from Liverpool<\/p>\n

Whilst much of the upcoming winter window will focus on Guehi, there is likely to be at least one departure in the near future.<\/p>\n
