The Fastest Bikes at the Men’s 2025 Ironman World Championship<\/p>\n
The 2025 Ironman World Championship in Nice, France<\/a>, once again showcased just how decisive the bike leg can be on this hilly, technical, and breathtaking course. Frenchman Sam Laidlow thrilled the home crowd by setting the day\u2019s fastest bike split in 4:29:29, while three Norwegians \u2014 Gustav Iden<\/a>, Kristian Blummenfelt<\/a>, and Casper Stornes \u2014 all landed inside the top five bike times.<\/p>\n Unlike Kona\u2019s long, exposed highways, Nice rewards climbing efficiency, confident descending, and all-day aero comfort. That\u2019s reflected in the equipment: a mix of 1x and 2x drivetrains, deep wheels paired with discs, and more custom cockpits than ever<\/a>.<\/p>\n Course and conditions: Nice 2023 vs. 2025<\/b><\/p>\n The Nice course<\/b> remains a contrast to Kona: punchy climbs, switchback descents, and technical handling demand. Compared to 2023, when Laidlow also topped the bike splits (4:31:28), this year\u2019s times were even faster \u2014 Laidlow\u2019s 4:29:29 trimmed nearly two minutes off.<\/p>\n The trends:<\/p>\n Nice once again rewarded bold descenders and riders willing to push big gears on the climbs.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s a closer look at the top 10 fastest men\u2019s bike splits in Nice 2025<\/b> and the gear that got them there.<\/p>\n The fastest bikes at the 2025 men\u2019s Ironman World Championships Nice Frenchman Laidlow lit up his home course with the fastest split of the day. His Canyon Speedmax CFR<\/strong> was equipped with Swiss Side Hadron deep front<\/a> and disc rear wheels<\/a><\/b>, a Digirit 58T 1x chainring<\/b><\/a>, and SRAM Red 1x<\/b><\/a> drivetrain with a 10-36 cassette. Canyon integrated cockpit and Continental GP5000 TT TR tires<\/a><\/strong> rounded out the setup. Laidlow showed once again why he\u2019s one of the sport\u2019s purest cyclists. Iden\u2019s Trinity ran Cadex Aero 4-Spoke front<\/a> and Cadex Disc rear wheels<\/a><\/b> with Continental GP5000 TT TR tires<\/b><\/a>. He used a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 2x<\/a><\/b>(58\/44, 11\u201334) setup with 170 mm cranks, Sync Ergonomics grips<\/strong>, and a Cadex Aerobar Three cockpit<\/b> with a Tririg BTA hydration system<\/a><\/strong>. His wheel choice was Reserve 99 front<\/a> paired with a Reserve Disc rear<\/b>, shod with Pirelli P Zero TLR RS tires<\/b><\/a> (30 mm front @ 65 psi, 28 mm rear @ 68 psi). A Dash Cycles integrated saddle\/post<\/a><\/strong> completed one of the most aggressive aero packages in the field.<\/p>\n #4 Bike Split (4:31:20): Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR), 4th Overall<\/b> The Olympic champ and former Ironman World Champion rode the Cadex Tri<\/b>. His setup included a Cadex Aero 4-Spoke front<\/a> and Cadex Disc rear<\/a><\/b>, Dura-Ace Di2 2x<\/a><\/b>(58\/44, 11\u201334), and a Cadex Aerobar Three cockpit<\/b> with Sync extensions<\/strong>. Blummenfelt\u2019s bike<\/a> also featured clever internal hydration in the downtube \u2014 proof that Cadex is pushing innovation to match his racing style.<\/p>\n #5 Bike Split (4:31:26): Casper Stornes (NOR), 1st Overall<\/b> Stornes, another member of Norway\u2019s \u201cbig four,\u201d piloted his Pinarello Bolide TR+<\/b> fitted with Princeton CarbonWorks Mach TSV front<\/a> and Blur Disc rear wheels<\/a><\/b>. A Shimano Dura-Ace Di2<\/a> 1x drivetrain<\/b> and Pinarello\u2019s stiff TorayCa T1100 1K carbon frame gave him the perfect balance for Nice\u2019s climbs and descents en route to victory.<\/p>\n #6 Bike Split (4:31:48): Marten Van Riel (BEL), 4th Place Overall<\/b> Van Riel rode a Trek Speed Concept<\/b> equipped with HED Vanquish Pro 84mm deep front<\/a> and rear Vanquish Pro disc wheel<\/a><\/b>, a SRAM Red AXS 1x drivetrain<\/b><\/a>, and Speedbar extensions<\/b><\/a>. His strong ride reinforced Trek\u2019s presence among the sport\u2019s fastest.<\/p>\n #7 Bike Split (4:37:21): Jamie Riddle (RSA), 10th Place Overall<\/b> South Africa\u2019s Riddle cracked the Top 10 with a Cerv\u00e9lo P5<\/b> running Reserve wheels<\/a> (deep front + disc rear)<\/b> and Sync Ergonomics extensions<\/b>. A SRAM Red 1x<\/b><\/a> drivetrain powered his split, and his position work is clearly paying off.<\/p>\n #8 Bike Split (4:39:14): Cameron Wurf (AUS), 21st Place Overall<\/b> \u00a0<\/p>\n The INEOS Grenadiers pro and longtime Kona bike-split star stayed true to his Pinarello Bolide<\/b>. His setup used Princeton CarbonWorks 7580 front<\/a> and <\/b>Blur disc rear wheels<\/a><\/b> with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2<\/a> 2x drivetrain<\/b>. Wurf once again proved that even while balancing pro cycling and Ironman, he\u2019s one of the sport\u2019s strongest riders.<\/p>\n #9 Bike Split (4:39:39): Matthew Marquardt (USA), 8th Place Overall<\/b><\/p>\n Bike:<\/b> Trek Speed Concept<\/a><\/p>\n The American medical student continued to impress, riding a Trek Speed Concept<\/b> fitted with a Princeton CarbonWorks 7580 front<\/a> and Blur 633 Disc rear<\/a><\/b>. He paired it with SRAM Red AXS<\/a> 2x 56\/43<\/b>, Continental GP5000 S TR tires<\/a> (25F\/28R)<\/b>, and a Sync Ergonomics cockpit<\/b>. Despite a crash on the bike and cramping on the run, Marquardt still had a strong top-10 finish and was first American.<\/p>\n #10 Bike Split (4:39:51): Jon S\u00e6ver\u00e5s Breivold (NOR), 10th Place Overall<\/b> The Norwegian winner of Norseman rounded out the top 10 aboard a Quintana Roo V-PR<\/b> in white. His bike was built with Vision Metron 60 front wheel<\/a> <\/b>and rear Vision Metron TFW Disc<\/a><\/b>, Shimano Ultegra Di2<\/a><\/b>2x 12-speed drivetrain, TFE Team extensions<\/b><\/a>, and mismatched tires with a Vittoria Corsa Pro Speed<\/b><\/a> 28mm front tire and rear Continental GP 5000 S TR<\/b><\/a> both in 28mm.
