A Glasgow man has appeared in court charged with assaulting an emergency worker in the disorder which erupted during Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom protest.<\/a><\/p>\n

Up to 150,000 people attended the rally on Saturday organised by the right-wing English Defence League founder<\/a> as around 5000 anti-racism demonstrators held a counter-protest.<\/p>\n

Violent disorder subsequently broke out, much of which was linked to the Unite the Kingdom event, according to the Metropolitan Police.<\/a><\/p>\n

Eight people have since been charged with offences<\/a> relating to assault and public order – with three men appearing in court today, reports the National.<\/p>\n

One of which was Richard Hamilton, 42, of Glasgow, who was charged with assaulting<\/a> a emergency worker and was remanded in custody at Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court.<\/p>\n

The others were Matthew Wilkins, 55, of Hampshire, who was charged with breaching Section 14 of the Public Order Act <\/a>and disrupting a person engaged in lawful activity and was remanded in custody.<\/p>\n

Jamie Brewer, 35, of Essex, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates\u2019 Court charged<\/a> with actual bodily harm against a police officer.<\/p>\n

The remaining five are due to appear in court<\/a> in the comming weeks.<\/p>\n

Lewis Siverns, 33, of West Midlands, was charged with assault<\/a> on an emergency worker and bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court on Wednesday October 1.<\/p>\n

Aaron Wren, 36, of Kent, was bailed<\/a> to appear at Highbury Magistrates\u2019 Court on Monday September 29 after being charged under Section 4A of the Public Order Act.<\/p>\n

James Moore, 50, of Devon, was charged with common assault on a police officer <\/a>and was bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court on Monday October 13.<\/p>\n

Paul Newman, 56, of west London, was bailed to appear at the same court<\/a> on the same day after he was charged with breach of a dispersal order and bail conditions not to enter the Borough of Westminster.<\/p>\n

Norman Richards, 58, of Essex, was charged with assault<\/a> on a police officer and was bailed to appear at Bromley Magistrates\u2019 Court on Monday October 13.<\/p>\n

The Met are also appealing for help<\/a> in tracing 11 people who officers want to speak to in relation to a range of public order offences and assaults on emergency services workers, the force said.<\/p>\n

Detective Chief Inspector Natalie Norris, from the Met\u2019s Public Order Crime Team, said: \u201cPublic order policing doesn\u2019t end when the event is over and since Saturday our teams have been working to identify those involved in any criminality.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur post-event investigation is ongoing and officers have trawled through hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and continue to review evidence to help with inquiries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have identified a number of people we want to speak to in connection with a range of offences \u2013 and we are asking for the public\u2019s help to track them down.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs with any major event, we know people may have travelled from outside of London, so we\u2019re asking for people across the country to take a look at those pictured and get in touch if they recognise anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
