Stock Spirits Group has decided to shut its production facility in the German city of Hamburg, citing increasing costs.<\/p>\n
The closure of the plant is lined up for early 2027.<\/p>\n

In a brief statement, a spokesperson for the pan-European distiller described the decision as \u201cdifficult\u201d.<\/p>\n The spokesperson said the move comes \u201cagainst a backdrop of pressures within the spirits industry, including shifting consumer behaviour and rising operational costs\u201d.<\/p>\n The closure is deemed \u201cnecessary to ensure the long-term competitiveness and sustainability\u201d of the group, the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n The Hamburg plant employs 36 people. Just Drinks asked what products are made at the site.<\/p>\n Germany remains a \u201ckey strategic market\u201d for Stock Spirits, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n In September last year, the company decided to shut<\/a> its Baltic Distillery in Dettmannsdorf in north-eastern Germany. The site employed 35 staff.<\/p>\n The distillery primarily produced pure alcohol principally for use in Stock Spirits\u2019 products.<\/p>\n In April, Stock Spirits strengthened its presence in the UK with the acquisition<\/a> of importer and distributor The Drinks Company.<\/p>\n Stock Spirits, owned by private-equity firm CVC Capital Partners, has a portfolio of European spirits brands that includes Keglevich vodka, Fernet herbal bitters and Clan Campbell whisky.<\/p>\n \n Sign up for our daily news round-up!
