Volunteers must be at least 16, and full training will be provided.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Glasgow 2026 event is also offering support to those who may not normally have access to the internet, with access through a partnership with Glasgow Libraries and its DigiPals programme.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  To mark the launch of its volunteer recruitment campaign, former champions and volunteers came together in a Glasgow 2026 branded taxi, calling on the nation to \u201cget in\u201d.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Emily Campbell is a Commonwealth champion, five-time European champion and a double World and Olympic medallist.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The weightlifter said: \u201cFrom an athlete\u2019s perspective, volunteers at major events, like the Commonwealth Games, bring the energy, the friendly faces and the passion that help us perform at our best.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI\u2019ve been fortunate to have had amazing interactions with volunteers over the years, and I\u2019ve seen how they can truly transform the experience for both athletes and fans.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cGlasgow 2026 is a chance for people from all backgrounds to be part of something special and be right at the heart of the action. If you\u2019ve ever thought about getting involved, now\u2019s the time.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Volunteer Glasgow and Skills Development Scotland are hosting drop-in sessions to guide people through the application form.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Cynthia Tjipuka, a former volunteer, said: \u201cVolunteering has been an unforgettable journey for me from COP26 to more recent events such the World Indoor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/athletics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Athletics<\/a> Championships, and the UCI Cycling World Championships here in Glasgow.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cEach of these opportunities gave me the chance to meet incredible people, gain new experiences, and be part of moments that brought the city together on a global stage.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m encouraging others to volunteer for Glasgow 2026 \u2014 it\u2019s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to make lasting memories, build friendships, and play a vital role in welcoming the world to our beautiful city again.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Phil Batty OBE, chief executive of Glasgow 2026, said: \u201cVolunteers bring an energetic and friendly welcome to a major event. Since 2014, Glasgow has time and time again demonstrated that people really make this city and I know the volunteers in 2026 will rise to the opportunity.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWe\u2019ve been asked since day one about volunteering and we\u2019re very excited to open the application portal today. We are encouraging applications from people from all walks of life from across Glasgow, Scotland and beyond \u2013 no prior experience is required.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe appetite to volunteer in the city is high and there\u2019s lots of ways to get involved no matter what your interests are.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cIt\u2019s a great way to soak up the action, focus on your wellbeing and to be part of shaping a new era for the Commonwealth Games.
