shopping complex in Pendleton<\/a>, opened for the last time today after administrators for the company said it was no longer viable to keep stores open due to stock shortages and operating costs.<\/p>\nThe store in Salford was one of 14 to close today, with `16 locations across the country set to shut up shop for good on Thursday, 18 September.<\/p>\n
The retailer fell into administration on 5 September and immediately closed 32 of its 147 shops with the loss of 450 jobs.<\/p>\n
About 235 staff working across the stores will be made redundant, the company said.<\/p>\n
Nick Holloway, the managing director at Interpath and a joint administrator, said: \u201cWe\u2019d like to express our sincere thanks to hundreds of Bodycare staff who have shown such professionalism since our appointment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will continue to trade the remaining 85 stores while we remain in discussions with interested parties with the aim of preserving as much as the business as possible.<\/p>\n
Interpath is currently pursuing a potential rescue sale of the business and assets.<\/p>\n
The company said it had received interest from a number of parties in relation to the stores.<\/p>\n
Bodycare was founded in 1970 in Lancashire and sells beauty products, as well as fragrances and other bathroom items.<\/p>\n
