CariGenetics, the sole genomic research company dedicated exclusively to people of Caribbean ancestry, has celebrated its third anniversary of incorporation.<\/p>\n
Carika Weldon founded the company in 2022 and said it it had grown into a globally recognised leader in precision medicine, health equity and community-driven science.<\/p>\n
The company said: \u201cIn just three years, CariGenetics has made genetic testing accessible to over 1,300 Caribbean people, discovered unique trends in cancer genetics, pharmacogenetics and cannabis metabolism and has launched the Caribbean Genome Programme, set to genetically test 250,000 Caribbean people by 2030.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Weldon said: \u201cThree years ago, I took a leap of faith and founded CariGenetics, having never run a company before. Although I did not know exactly what challenges lay ahead, I knew the vision that needed to be executed.<\/p>\n
\u201cCaribbean people deserve to be included in the science shaping the future of healthcare.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey say the three-year mark is the \u2018make or break\u2019 point for most companies. Nearly 90 per cent don\u2019t make it past this stage. To be standing here today has not been easy.<\/p>\n
