Wrexham released Steven Fletcher over the summer, and the striker is now in talks over a very emotional transfer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Phil Parkinson<\/a> overhauled his Wrexham<\/a> striking options this past summer, bringing in Ryan Hardie, Josh Windass, Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead.<\/p>\n

All four players bring proven Championship records, but their arrivals were prompted by difficult departures.<\/p>\n

Paul Mullin joined Wigan Athletic<\/a> on loan before Ollie Palmer signed for Swindon Town<\/a> in a permanent move.<\/p>\n

Wrexham also released Steven Fletcher<\/a>, meaning three fan-favourite strikers departed the ST\u014dK Cae Ras<\/a> in one window.<\/p>\n

Fletcher was a hero for Wrexham, as the veteran striker showed his Premier League quality with goals off the bench.<\/p>\n

Many expected the 38-year-old to stay at Wrexham for another year, but Parkinson surprisingly decided to let him go.<\/p>\n

Fletcher admitted he was likely to retire after leaving Wrexham<\/a>, feeling that nothing could really bring the spark he felt at the ST\u014dK Cae Ras.<\/p>\n

The Scot has yet to formally announce his retirement, though, and he could actually make an emotional transfer.<\/p>\n

The Daily Record<\/a> report that Fletcher has held talks over a stunning return to Scottish side Hibernian.<\/p>\n

Hibernian believe that Fletcher would be the ideal veteran presence alongside former Wrexham target Kieron Bowie<\/a> in David Gray\u2019s attack.<\/p>\n

Hibs tried to sign Lyndon Dykes on deadline day, but they failed to reach an agreement with Birmingham City.<\/p>\n

The domino effect of that transfer collapsing could see Fletcher continue his playing days after all, months after leaving Wrexham.<\/p>\n

Hibernian could be the only club to keep Steven Fletcher from retirement<\/strong><\/p>\n

We would have loved Fletcher to have one more season at Wrexham, especially with Jay Rodriguez struggling on the injury front.<\/p>\n

Fletcher loved his time at Wrexham, and the idea that he would struggle to find a similar buzz elsewhere is understandable.<\/p>\n

Hibernian may just scratch an itch for Fletcher, though, as he came up through their ranks as a teenager.<\/p>\n

Fletcher joined Hibernian at just 13 and broke through as a first-team Hibs player at 17 before becoming a hero at Easter Road.<\/p>\n

Fletcher scored 52 times in 189 games for Hibs, earning himself a 2009 move to Burnley in the process.<\/p>\n
