Former Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah has reportedly been approached regarding a return to Bramall Lane – less than a year after selling the club to Steve Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That\u2019s according to a report from The Star<\/a>, who revealed a return in an advisory role or via a minority stake were two of the options on the table.<\/p>\n

The Saudi prince sold the Championship club to American consortium COH Sports at the end of last year. Their first major decision, to sack Chris Wilder and replace him with Ruben Selles, has not gone to plan, with the latter sacked after just six games and replaced by his predecessor.<\/p>\n

Prince Abdullah could offer invaluable advice to struggling Sheffield United owners<\/strong><\/p>\n

We asked Sheffield United<\/a> fan pundit, Jimmy from the Blades Ramble<\/a> YouTube channel, whether he\u2019d welcome a return to Bramall Lane for Prince Abdullah – and the response was positive.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Football League World, Jimmy<\/a> said: \u201cI’d be really pleased with a Prince Abdullah return, to be honest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the one concern that the owners have admitted to it is that they’re not football people. They don’t really understand the game. They’re businessmen, very successful businessmen.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s key that they surround themselves with football people who know the game and who can advise them appropriately. One poor advisor could be disastrous for the football club, really.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, Prince Abdullah has been there and done it as owner. He’s guided us to promotions, and we’ve done nothing but improve under his stewardship.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, there were also some very rocky times, but he can also advise them of what not to do, as well as what to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I think bringing Prince Abdullah back on board, if he was willing to do so, would be a really shrewd move by the owners and I think, again, it’s another step in the right direction for Sheffield United.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheffield United owners need all the help they can get after Ruben Selles disaster<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is not how COH Sports would have dreamed of their involvement at Sheffield United starting.<\/p>\n

After their investment in January failed to get the Blades back to the Premier League, their first major move – appointing Selles – hasn\u2019t worked, and his sacking only adds to the feeling of chaos evoked by the new ownership\u2019s rather baffling reliance on AI as a scouting tool<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Returning to Wilder doesn\u2019t make the new regime look very strong, as it is equal to admitting their big mistake after just six games of the new season, but that they are willing to take that on the chin does at least prove those heading COH Sports are realistic about their position.<\/p>\n

Bringing Prince Abdullah back to the club would be similar, in that it would in itself be admitting that the new owners are a little out of their depth, but as Jimmy says, the Blades were working under the guidance of Wilder and Prince Abdullah. If it\u2019s not broke, don\u2019t fix it.<\/p>\n

But for a last-minute winner from Sunderland at Wembley Stadium, that setup would have had the club in the Premier League as we speak now, so it is clearly a system capable of delivering promotion.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, you have to fall on your sword and admit when you\u2019ve got things wrong, and need some support.<\/p>\n
