The turmoil engulfing Manchester United<\/a> appears to be deepening with each passing day.<\/p>\n

Following their shocking second-round Carabao Cup elimination at the hands of League Two side Grimsby Town, United suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat<\/a> in the Manchester Derby at the weekend.<\/p>\n

This campaign was meant to mark a fresh beginning for United’s embattled manager Ruben Amorim<\/a> following their 15th-place finish last term, alongside their devastating Europa League final loss to Tottenham Hotspur.<\/a><\/p>\n

However, despite numerous new arrivals, Amorim finds himself facing mounting pressure<\/a> once more. United currently sit 14th in the table with one victory from four matches, which arrived courtesy of a stoppage-time spot-kick against promoted Burnley prior to the international break.<\/p>\n

With fresh dismissal speculation emerging and a former United star making a “criminal” accusation, we take a closer look at the latest developments from Old Trafford.<\/a><\/p>\n

Amorim’s dismissal warning<\/p>\n

Ex-United shot-stopper Ben Foster has delivered a significant statement regarding Amorim’s future in the Red Devils’ dugout. Speaking via his YouTube channel, Foster suggests Amorim is already being considered for the axe by the ownership, with plans being formulated, though nobody at Old Trafford<\/a> wishes to dismiss the Portuguese tactician.<\/p>\n

Foster said: “It’s already rumbling. It’s already there. It’s been rumbling for a long time. Nobody just wants to really commit to it. But I guarantee you, if, after eight games, they’ve got eight points and they’re still in 14th or 15th position, somebody’s gonna have to pull the trigger because it can’t carry on like that because it’s been proven now. It’s nearly a year since he’s been the manager. It won’t work.”<\/p>\n

‘Criminal’ claim<\/p>\n

United began the Manchester derby with Altay Bay\u0131ndir in goal, despite bringing in goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day for \u00a318.2million.<\/a><\/p>\n

Former number one Andre Onana had also departed the club on loan for Turkish outfit Trabzonspor. Nevertheless, ex-United midfielder Paul Scholes<\/a> insists that it represents a “criminal offence” if United showed no interest in Gianluigi Donnarumma during the summer window.<\/p>\n

City ultimately secured the signature of PSG’s Champions League-winning stopper for merely \u00a327m, with the Italian delivering an impressive display against United on Sunday.<\/p>\n

“I don’t think the quality is there [in the side],” Scholes told the BBC. “Goalkeeper was a major issue. Did they really need to get to the Grimsby game to realise [Andre] Onana is not good enough?<\/p>\n

“If Manchester United<\/a> were not in the market for Gianluigi Donnarumma when he became available, that is [a] criminal offence. The recruitment side went to buy forwards. That did need addressing, but did it need three of them? I’m not sure it did.”<\/p>\n

Scholes has voiced his concerns over Amorim’s unwavering commitment to the 3-4-3 formation, a strategy many believe could cost the 40-year-old his position at United.<\/p>\n

“He cannot carry on playing this way, he just can’t,” Scholes added. “At some point there has to be a moment where he thinks, ‘I have to change something because what I am doing now is not working and I am not getting results.<\/p>\n

“The proof is there. I like Amorim, with everything he says, he seems to be a likeable man. But unfortunately results paint a picture.” Amorim and United are set to face Chelsea<\/a> at home on Saturday, September 20.<\/p>\n
