Liam Williams <\/a>could be set for a move to England, with Newcastle Red Bulls<\/a> interested in signing the Wales star.<\/p>\n

WalesOnline understands the ambitious English club are interested in adding the 34-year-old to their squad. The 93-cap Wales international<\/a> is without a club after leaving Saracens at the end of last season, although he had been training with Cardiff<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ambitious English club Newcastle are on the lookout for a full-back and are taking a serious interest in Williams.<\/p>\n

Newcastle have been the Premiership’s basement dwellers for a number of years but were recently bought out by Red Bull<\/a> which will make them one of the wealthiest clubs in the world.<\/p>\n

The takeover happened too late in the day to make a significant difference to the make-up of this season’s squad but there is scope for director of rugby Steve Diamond to add a few players.<\/p>\n

WalesOnline has been told Williams is a player of interest to the North East club who are hoping to get a deal done over the next few days.<\/p>\n

Despite his age two-time British &Irish Lions tourist Williams still has plenty to offer the game and his experience would benefit most clubs. He recently spoke of his struggle to find a job, admitting he found the situation hard to deal with after no interest from Welsh regions.<\/a><\/p>\n

Williams would remain eligible for Wales if he left the country but it remains to be seen whether new head coach Steve Tandy wants to go in a different direction or not.<\/p>\n

He currently has 93 Wales caps and is desperate to get to 100.<\/p>\n

The former Scarlets<\/a>, Cardiff and Saracens man’s last appearance for Wales came in the opening round Six Nations<\/a> defeat to France in January.<\/p>\n

He suffered a knee injury in that match but has now had surgery and is fit to play again.<\/p>\n

“I’ve still got quite a bit left and I’d like to get back on the horse for another year or two so I can end my career on a high,” he told the BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I’ve never been without a job before and it’s really starting to hit home now that games are starting up. I just want to play.<\/p>\n
