{"id":431188,"date":"2025-09-17T12:52:20","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T12:52:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/431188\/"},"modified":"2025-09-17T12:52:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T12:52:20","slug":"glasgow-restaurant-the-gannet-announces-closure-after-12-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/431188\/","title":{"rendered":"Glasgow restaurant\u00a0The Gannet announces closure after 12 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>One of Glasgow\u2019s most popular restaurants has announced it is to close after more than a decade.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Gannet on Argyle Street in Finnieston will close its doors for a final time on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n<p>Since opening in 2013, the fine dining spot has attracted critical acclaim, including a recommendation in the Michelin Guide and being named the AA Restaurant of the Year in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Owner and head chef Peter McKenna\u00a0said the decision to close was made with \u201cmixed emotions\u201d but that \u201cexciting plans\u201d for the site are in the works.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time to close one chapter before opening the next\u201d, a statement shared on Wednesday explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will be welcoming guests for our last service at The Gannet on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Gannet has been open for 12 successful years, and we are immensely proud of what has been achieved. Many milestones have been celebrated, and many memories made. Together, we have built a remarkable restaurant \u2013 a true cornerstone of hospitality in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to our network of producers and suppliers, without whom we wouldn\u2019t have been able to go on this journey. There are far too many talented chefs and front-of-house professionals to mention.
