Omar Berrada insists that Manchester United<\/a> are building for the ‘long term’ in a message signalling his support for Ruben Amorim.<\/p>\n

United boss Amorim is under increasing pressure<\/a> after they collected just one win from their first five games of the season.<\/p>\n

Since his appointment in November 2024, United have mustered just 31 points from 31 Premier League<\/a> games.<\/p>\n

Amorim’s failure to make a positive impact in the short term saw United slump to a 15th-placed finish last season, their lowest in Premier League history.<\/p>\n

With a mere four points from their opening four league games on top of a humiliating Carabao Cup exit to League Two side Grimsby Town, United have endured their worst start to a season in 33 years.<\/p>\n

The Manchester Evening News understands that the Old Trafford<\/a> hierarchy are continuing to support Amorim and aren’t mind to sack him<\/a>.<\/p>\n

United spent \u00a3216million on new signings in the summer transfer window and CEO Berrada believes that the club is set up for future success.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, United announced their financial results for 2024-2025, boasting record revenues of \u00a3666.5m.<\/p>\n

In a statement, ex-Manchester City chief Berrada said: “As we settle into the 2025\/26 season, we are working hard to improve the club in all areas. On the field, we are pleased with the additions we have made to our men’s and women’s first-team squads over the summer, as we build for the long term.”<\/p>\n

Berrada’s comments suggest that the United hierarchy still believe Amorim is the man to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

But following Sunday’s comprehensive 3-0 defeat in the Manchester derby, reports emerged claiming that United are already assessing options to replace him.<\/p>\n

The Mirror report that former England boss Gareth Southgate, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, Fulham’s Marco Silva, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, and Mauricio Pochettino – who came close to getting the job in 2022 – are all on the club’s shortlist of candidates.<\/p>\n

It’s added that Amorim effectively has three games to save his job before October’s international break.<\/p>\n

Amorim will be desperate to record a second win of the campaign when United welcome Chelsea<\/a> in Saturday’s 5:30pm kick-off.<\/p>\n

His side also travel to Brentford and host Sunderland before the October internationals.<\/p>\n
