{"id":431482,"date":"2025-09-17T15:45:20","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T15:45:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/431482\/"},"modified":"2025-09-17T15:45:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T15:45:20","slug":"day-2-deadlock-in-bristol-bus-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/431482\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 2 deadlock in Bristol bus strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now there&#8217;s a dispute over the impact of the strike<\/p>\n<p>14:41, 17 Sep 2025Updated 14:42, 17 Sep 2025<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The two sides in Bristol\u2019s<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/bus-strike-bring-bristol-standstill-10501349\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" four-day bus strikeLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> four-day bus strike<\/a> appeared deadlocked on the second day of the dispute which has seen <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/bristol-bus-strike-full-list-10501851\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">16 different bus routes cancelled completely<\/a> and a scaled back service on routes across the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/bus-strike-bring-bristol-standstill-10501349\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"second day of the strikeLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">second day of the strike<\/a> saw up to 600 drivers again walk out and man picket lines at two depots &#8211; Lawrence Hill and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/hengrove\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Hengrove<\/a> &#8211; disrupting services on CityLines routes across Bristol. But with no talks imminent or planned to end the dispute, First Bus bosses and union reps are now disputing the impact of the strike on Bristol.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">First Bus boss Doug Claringbold said he was \u2018pleased to say\u2019 that more drivers have \u2018started to return to work\u2019, hinting that the strike could peter out if drivers decide to break the picket lines. Since 2021 a Bristol driver\u2019s basic earnings has increased from just over \u00a324,000 to more than \u00a331,000 &#8211; a 31% increase,\u201d said Mr Claringbold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cThis pay offer would increase these basic earnings to over \u00a333,000, with many drivers earning significantly more than this.
