The Prince<\/a> and Princess of Wales<\/a> were seen leading the way at Wednesday’s State Banquet<\/a>, which was held for the second state visit<\/a> of\u00a0President Donald Trump<\/a>. As they entered, William was seen walking beside Paula Reynolds, the Chair of the National Grid, while the Princess of Wales was joined by Michael Boulos, the husband of Donald Trump’s daughter, Tiffany Trump, who was also in attendance. King Charles entered alongside the American president, while Queen Camilla<\/a> was joined by First Lady Melania Trump<\/a>. Princess Anne<\/a> was also present, and she was joined by Warren Stephens, the United States ambassador for the United Kingdom, while the Duke of Gloucester was joined by Lori Huang, the wife of Nvidia CEO, Jensen Huang.<\/p>\n

The State Banquet followed a busy day for the royals and presidential couple. The day started with Donald and Melania being greeted by William and Kate before a carriage procession around the grounds of Windsor Castle. This was followed by an inspection of the guard, conducted by the monarch and the president before a lunch, held in the State Dining Room.<\/p>\n

The day ended with a viewing of a special display of items in the Royal Collection that were related to the United States and a visit to the tomb of the late Queen, where President Trump laid a wreath before having a tour of the chapel. On his last state visit, the President was hosted by Her Late Majesty, and he spoke warmly of the late monarch. Following the tour, he was then treated to a flypast conducted by the Red Arrows.<\/p>\n

Charles praised Trump’s diplomatic efforts<\/p>\n

The King’s speech<\/p>\n

In a speech at the dinner, Charles praised the US President for his efforts of peacemaking around the globe. “Our countries are working together in support of crucial diplomatic efforts, not least of which, Mr President, is your own personal commitment to finding solutions to some of the world\u2019s most intractable conflicts, in order to secure peace,” he said.<\/p>\n

The King also joked about how he was linked to Richard Nixon’s daughter, Tricia, during his youth as he spoke about the “special relationship” between the United Kingdom and United States.<\/p>\n

President Trump was touched by the King’s words<\/p>\n

The President was touched by the King’s words and in his own speech, he said: “For many decades, His Majesty the King has epitomised the fortitude, nobility and the spirit of the British monarchy and the British people.”<\/p>\n

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch recieved an invitation<\/p>\n

Among the non-royal guests at the event were media mogul Rupert Murdoch. The 94-year-old is currently involved in a legal battle with Mr Trump over an article published in The Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n

The 47.32 metre-long table – equivalent to the length of two Marine One helicopters laid end to end – took a week to build and is set with 1,452 pieces of cutlery and 139 candles in silver gilt candelabra. <\/p>\n

Guests at the State Banquet will dine on Hampshire Watercress Panna Cotta with Parmesan Shortbread and Quail Egg Salad, Organic Norfolk Chicken Ballotine wrapped in Courgettes, with a Thyme and Savoury Infused Jus and Vanilla Ice Cream Bombe with Kentish Raspberry Sorbet interior and lightly poached Victoria Plums. <\/p>\n

The Wine list consisted of a 2016 Wiston Estate Cuv\u00e9e, a 2018 Domaine Bonneau de Martray, Corton-Charlemagne, Grand Cru, a Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello from 2000 and a 1998 Pol Roger, Extra Cuv\u00e9e de R\u00e9serve.<\/p>\n

After dinner, in a nod to Mr Trump having been the 45th as well as the 47th President of the United States, guests will be served Warre’s 1945 Vintage Port; Hennessy 1912 Cognac Grande Champagne – to reflect the year of the President’s mother Mary Anne MacLeod’s birth – and Bowmore Queen\u2019s Cask 1980, Islay, a gift to the late Queen Elizabeth in 1980, which was bottled for her Golden Jubilee in 2002.<\/p>\n

The evening’s music<\/p>\n

Members of the The 1st Battalion The Scots Guards supplied music for the night. Music included classical pieces such as Puccini’s Nessun Dorma and Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. There were also modern choices, including Elton John’s Tiny Dancer and a James Bond medley.<\/p>\n

The flowers will later be donated to Floral Angels<\/p>\n

Floral arrangements<\/p>\n

Floral arrangements in shades of pink, red and yellow have been created using handpicked seasonal flowers and herbs from the gardens at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and The Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park.<\/p>\n

Afterwards they will be donated to the charity Floral Angels, which delivers to hospices, care homes, shelters and other community organisations.<\/p>\n
