{"id":432251,"date":"2025-09-17T22:58:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T22:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/432251\/"},"modified":"2025-09-17T22:58:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T22:58:10","slug":"readings-a-day-in-carlton-program-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/432251\/","title":{"rendered":"Readings\u2019 A Day in Carlton program announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\tThursday, 18 September 2025 \u00a0 Books+Publishing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/booksandpublishing\/\" class=\"entry-social\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> @booksandpublishing<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Readings has announced the full 2025 program for \u2018A Day in Carlton\u2019, which will run 13\u201315 November in the Melbourne suburb of Carlton.<\/p>\n<p>The festival will open with author Trent Dalton in conversation with Michael Williams, and close with \u2018Bedtime Stories\u2019 at Jimmy Watson\u2019s, featuring authors Sophie Cunningham, Dalton, Christos Tsiolkas, and Toni Jordan.<\/p>\n<p>Other writers appearing at the festival include Maxine Beneba Clarke, Cher Tan, Mark Brandi, Evelyn Araluen, Moreno Giovanni, and Kate Mildenhall.<\/p>\n<p>Events include the announcement of the 2025 Readings Prize winners, a performance of Whitefella Yella Tree, the Readings Poetry Gala, and the Cities of Literature Book Club, while panel topics include democracy, politics, the US, YA fantasy, and a tribute to Jane Austen.<\/p>\n<p>A children\u2019s program will run simultaneously, with a storytime, the launch of Sundays Under the Lemon Tree (Julia Busuttil Nishimura, illus Myo Yim, Scribble), and a special session with Andy Griffith.<\/p>\n<p>Several other Carlton-based businesses are involved with special events, sales, and discounts for attendees.<\/p>\n<p>Readings community engagement and programming manager Chris Gordon said, \u2018Working with Mark Rubbo and the entire team at Readings to pull together a program that celebrates ideas and imagination is a joy.
