The xx<\/a> have shared footage of them rehearsing as they prepare to return.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday (September 16), it was revealed that the band would be playing Coachella 2026, after the festival surprise-dropped the bill for next year\u2019s instalment<\/a>.<\/p>\n

News of their comeback follows Romy<\/a> and Oliver Sim<\/a> making an appearance on Jamie xx<\/a>\u2019s 2024 single \u2018Waited All Night\u2019 from his album \u2018In Waves<\/a>\u2019. It marked the first time all three members had appeared together on a track since the band\u2019s 2017 album \u2018I See You<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n

Since then, they reunited recently at the 2025 edition of LIDO Festival in London<\/a>, and have been underway with work on their long-anticipated fourth album<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, they\u2019ve shared footage of them together preparing for their highly-awaited return. In a video posted to Instagram last night (September 17), they can be seen playing together in a studio. \u201cPicking up our instruments again. See you in the desert?\u201d they wrote in the caption, alluding to their upcoming Coachella set. Check out the clip below.<\/p>\n

Jamie revealed last summer that the band were working on a new album together<\/a> and said they were \u201chaving a good time\u201d while doing so. \u201cIt is like The Avengers!\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ve said it ourselves. It\u2019s always so nice to get back together with them.\u201d In March, they gave a further update by sharing a pic of the three of them<\/a>\u00a0sitting in a studio together.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0NME\u00a0<\/a>on the red carpet at the\u00a02024 BRIT Awards\u00a0<\/a>about the new music, Romy also shared: \u201cWe\u2019re just keeping it really open and we\u2019re up for trying new things, but it sounds like us. That\u2019s all I can say right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve learned a lot from our different solo projects and it\u2019s cool to learn from each other again,\u201d she added. \u201cWe grew up together and we had a lot of experiences, but to then have time apart and learn new skills, get new musical ideas and experiences and compare them\u2026 it\u2019s been a healthy break.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The long-awaited record will be the trio\u2019s first since their 2017 album\u00a0\u2018I See You\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since then, Jamie xx has released the aforementioned \u2018In Waves\u2019 in 2024, which was given four stars from NME in a review that read<\/a>: \u201c\u2018In Waves\u2019 wears its creator\u2019s perfectionism with surprising lightness: such long-gestating records can often feel airless and over-produced, but Smith has crafted an immaculate album that still feels loose and energised.\u201d<\/p>\n

Romy shared her debut solo album \u2018Mid Air\u2019 in 2023. It was met with a five-star review from NME<\/a>, saying: \u201cMany of these songs will give you a prick of emotion at the back of your eyes \u2013 a sure sign that Romy really appreciates the healing power of a packed club floor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Sim shared his debut solo album \u2018Hideous Bastard\u2019 in 2022, which\u00a0NME\u00a0called \u201cutterly majestic and magnificent\u201d in\u00a0a glowing four-star review<\/a>. Back in August, Sim also shared a new single titled \u2018Obsession\u2019<\/a>, which marked his first music not to be produced by Jamie xx.<\/p>\n
