{"id":433393,"date":"2025-09-18T10:22:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T10:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/433393\/"},"modified":"2025-09-18T10:22:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T10:22:10","slug":"leonardo-in-edinburgh-could-be-shut-down-as-strike-mooted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/433393\/","title":{"rendered":"Leonardo in Edinburgh could be shut down as strike mooted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  However, members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/unite-the-union\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unite union<\/a> could be set to walk out and shut down production at sites in Yeovil, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/local-news\/edinburgh-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edinburgh<\/a>, Newcastle, Luton and Basildon.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Nearly three thousand workers have been balloted for industrial action after rejecting below inflation pay offer of 3.2%.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>Read More:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In 2024, Leonardo had revenues of nearly 18 billion euros and profits of over 1.5 billion euros.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/unite\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unite<\/a> general secretary Sharon Graham said: &#8220;Our members are highly skilled and work on critical defence and aerospace systems yet are being short-changed by a company making billions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Leonardo needs to do the right thing, come back to the negotiating table and make an improved offer our members can accept.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Unite national officer for aerospace Rhys McCarthy added: &#8220;Leonardo is incredibly wealthy and makes billions from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/uk-government\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK government<\/a> contracts.
