Laura Villars has become the third candidate to join the race to be elected the next FIA president.<\/p>\n
Villars is the first female to ever run for the role, according to her announcement press release, and joins incumbent president Mohamed Ben Sulayem and former FIA steward Tim Mayer in competition to be elected on December 12, 2025. It takes place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n
“The FIA must once again be the federation of clubs and license holders,\u201d said Villars, an entrepreneur as well as a racing driver.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy ambition is a governance that is more democratic, more transparent, more responsible, and open to women and new generations.<\/p>\n
\u201cI strongly believe that motorsport needs diversity and innovation to keep inspiring younger generations worldwide.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Swiss candidate has set out a clear agenda for her campaign after announcing her bid.<\/p>\n

Empower clubs through regular consultations and participatory governance<\/p>\n
Strengthen transparency in finance and decision-making<\/p>\n
Introduce a “FIA Eco-Performance” label recognizing sustainability leadership<\/p>\n
Enhance the Women in Motorsport program (Girls on Track, mentoring) and establish a FIA Young Leaders Academy<\/p>\n
Position the FIA as a global benchmark in sustainable mobility and road safety<\/p>\n
