{"id":433698,"date":"2025-09-18T13:24:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T13:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/433698\/"},"modified":"2025-09-18T13:24:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T13:24:11","slug":"macrons-to-submit-scientific-evidence-to-us-court-to-prove-brigitte-was-not-born-a-man-emmanuel-macron","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/433698\/","title":{"rendered":"Macrons to submit scientific evidence to US court to prove Brigitte was not born a man | Emmanuel Macron"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The French president, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife plan to present scientific evidence to a US court to prove that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/brigitte-macron\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brigitte Macron<\/a> was not born a man, the lawyer representing them in a defamation suit has said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The couple <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/jul\/23\/emmanuel-brigitte-macron-candace-owens-lawsuit-defamation\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">filed the suit in July<\/a> against Candace Owens, a rightwing influencer, and her business, alleging continuing defamatory attacks against them in order to boost the profile of her media platform, gain more audience and make money.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Owens said last year she would \u201cstake [her] entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man\u201d named Jean-Michel Trogneux, and has since doubled down on the false claim, including in an eight-part podcast series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Macrons\u2019 lawyer, Tom Clare, of the law firm Clare Locke, which has won several high-profile defamation cases, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/ckg3llj5nxdo\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told the BBC\u2019s Fame under Fire podcast<\/a> that Brigitte Macron had found the claims \u201cincredibly upsetting\u201d and they were a \u201cdistraction\u201d for the French president.<\/p>\n<p>Candace Owens said last year she would \u2018stake [her] entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man\u2019. Photograph: Octavio Jones\/Reuters<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Clare said: \u201cExpert testimony will come out that will be scientific in nature.\u201d He did not reveal what nature the testimony would take, but said the couple were prepared to demonstrate fully, \u201cboth generically and specifically\u201d, that the claims were untrue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cIt is a process that she will have to subject herself to in a very public way,\u201d he said. \u201cBut she is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight.\u201d Photos of Brigitte pregnant and raising her children would be presented, he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Macrons\u2019 suit states that Trogneux is Brigitte\u2019s older brother and lives in Amiens, northern France, where he grew up with Brigitte and four other siblings. He attended Emmanuel Macron\u2019s presidential inaugurations in 2017 and 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Brigitte Macron, 72, is 24 years older than her husband, whom she met at a theatre workshop that she was running at his high school. Brigitte and Trogneux won a defamation case against two bloggers, Amandine Roy and Natacha Rey, but an appeals court has since ruled the case did not fit the legal definition of defamation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Brigitte Macron and her brother have taken the case to France\u2019s highest court. The case against Owens alleges she \u201cdisregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists and proven defamers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The influencer\u2019s lawyers have responded with a motion to dismiss, arguing that the case should not have been filed in Delaware, where her businesses are incorporated, since it did not relate to them.
