According to Daily Mail’s exclusive report, the Sussexes chose to lay low in Montecito, California, opting out of significant online activity or any public engagements. Simultaneously, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly stayed out of making any public appearances. This led to speculation that the couple might have either been snubbed from the event or they intentionally lay low.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Daily Mail that the Sussexes were wary of stealing the spotlight from the president. The President reportedly complimented Kate Middleton at the state banquet, calling the Princess of Wales “healthy” and “beautiful.” He also seemingly left Prince Harry out of the speech.
