{"id":434421,"date":"2025-09-18T20:32:15","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T20:32:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/434421\/"},"modified":"2025-09-18T20:32:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T20:32:15","slug":"pfp-on-road-worlds-return-theres-no-pressure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/434421\/","title":{"rendered":"PFP on road worlds return: \u2018There\u2019s no pressure\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With less than two weeks to go before the women\u2019s road race at the UCI road world championships in Rwanda, Pauline Ferrand-Pr\u00e9v\u00f4t says she\u2019s heading to Africa in rare late-season form \u2014 and without feeling any pressure.<\/p>\n<p>In August t<a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/news\/pauline-ferrand-prevot-gives-rwanda-worlds-update\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he 32-year-old reversed an earlier decision to skip the race<\/a>. Now she said she\u2019s surprised by how strong she still feels after a hectic season that included landmark wins in Paris-Roubaix and the Tour de France Femmes.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing off 2025 strong<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel good. I\u2019m happy to finish the season in this state of mind and with this physical shape,\u201d Ferrand-Pr\u00e9v\u00f4t told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lequipe.fr\/Cyclisme-sur-route\/Actualites\/-je-pense-qu-on-a-l-equipe-la-plus-forte-pauline-ferrand-prevot-avant-les-championnats-du-monde\/1594431\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">L\u2019\u00c9quipe<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve never really managed to finish a season. Last year after the Olympics I was mentally and physically tired\u2026 but now I feel that I\u2019m still good despite the victories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said two quiet days at home with partner and fellow pro Dylan van Baarle are part of the final tune-up before flying to Rwanda on Saturday. \u201cMy coach told me to unplug and enjoy a more normal life,\u201d she said, saying that it feels \u201cweird to still feel good\u201d at this point in the year.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike last summer, <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/mtb\/pauline-ferrand-prevot-will-race-her-last-xc-next-weekend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">when she entered the Olympic mountain bike race as an overwhelming favourite<\/a>, Ferrand-Pr\u00e9v\u00f4t said she\u2019s heading to Rwanda free of expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Under no pressure to win<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have nothing to lose in this world championship. It\u2019s a bonus. If I perform, it\u2019s great, if I\u2019m a little worse, it\u2019s not the end of the world\u2026 There is no bad pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She credited a solo training block in Andorra after the Tour for helping her reset mentally: \u201cI found myself again\u2026 it did me good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ferrand-Pr\u00e9v\u00f4t said the calibre of the French roster was a major reason for changing her mind about competing. \u201cWhen you see the names,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we have the strongest team,\u201d she told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lequipe.fr\/Cyclisme-sur-route\/Actualites\/-je-pense-qu-on-a-l-equipe-la-plus-forte-pauline-ferrand-prevot-avant-les-championnats-du-monde\/1594431\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">L\u2019\u00c9quipe<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not just me. There are also other really strong women . It will be interesting to see how the Dutch will race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>France will line up with L\u00e9a Curinier, C\u00e9drine Kerbaol, Juliette Labous, Marie Le Net, Evita Muzic and Ma\u00ebva Squiban alongside Ferrand-Pr\u00e9v\u00f4t. Labous and Kerbaol will also contest the individual time trial, while all three join Squiban for the mixed team time trial.<\/p>\n<p>Canadian Cycling Magazine will have reports and photos after each race.
