Andrew Cavenagh has touched down in Glasgow as the American owner gets set to meet the growing Rangers<\/a> crisis head on.<\/p>\n

The Gers supremo jetted in from the USA on a private jet on Thursday night and will attend this weekend’s powderkeg Premier Sports Cup quarter-final with Hibs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cavenagh<\/a> will gauge the depth of feeling at Ibrox on Saturday as fuming supporters gather for a protest outside the front door demanding the removal of under-fire boss Russell Martin<\/a> and chief executive Patrick Stewart.<\/p>\n

The Union Bears have urged fellow fans to join them at the main entrance before kick-off after watching Gers plunge to tenth in the table in last weekend’s dismal 2-0 home defeat to Hearts.<\/p>\n

Martin – only 103 days in the job – has yet to win any of his opening five Premiership games and suffered a humiliating 9-1 Champions League playoff aggregate defeat to Club Brugge.<\/p>\n

It’s the Light Blues’ worst start to a league campaign in 47 years and fed-up punters have quickly lost faith in beleaguered Martin, pinning the blame on CEO Stewart for the disastrous appointment.<\/p>\n

Despite the toxic mood in the stands, the Ibrox hierarchy have decided to stick by the former Southampton boss who has vowed not to quit despite the outrage amongst Rangers legions.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia-based Cavenagh could walk into a half-empty stadium on Saturday with thousands of diehards planning to boycott the showdown.<\/p>\n

Record Sport<\/strong> understands a number of leading managerial candidates have already thrown their names in the ring to replace Martin.<\/a><\/p>\n

However, it’s understood that no official conversations with the would-be contenders have taken place and Martin will be in the dugout for the last-eight tie.<\/p>\n
