Detectives have charged a man after a fire broke out at a Birmingham city centre<\/a> supermarket.<\/p>\n Bashar Alnajar, of no fixed address, was charged with arson and burglary with intent to cause damage after the blaze on Wednesday morning, September 17.<\/p>\n The 25-year-old was remanded to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today, September 18.<\/p>\n Read more: <\/strong>Shocking state of ‘poo-covered’ garden where woman kept dog tied-up without a bed<\/a><\/p>\n The blaze took place in Corporation Street in the early hours of the morning. Officers “responded quickly” to reports.<\/p>\n In the latest update, West Midlands Police<\/a> said: “We\u2019ve charged a man with arson and burglary offences following a fire at a Birmingham<\/a> supermarket.<\/p>\n “Bashar Alnajar, aged 25, of no fixed address, was remanded to appear at Birmingham Magistrates\u2019 Court today (Thurs) for a first hearing.<\/p>\n “He is charged with arson and burglary with intent to cause damage.<\/p>\n “It follows a fire at a supermarket on Corporation Street in the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday) morning.<\/p>\n “Officers responded quickly to reports of a man in a building and made an arrest at the scene.”<\/p>\n West Midlands Fire Service released an initial statement at the time saying: “We have four crews in attendance at Corporation Street, Birmingham where they have responded to a fire.
