He\u2019s laid bare his love of craft, passion for the ancient world and for objects that endure, and the products have been flying off the virtual shelves of the new website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe physical <a data-id=\"1237968411\" data-type=\"pmc-gallery\" href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/fashion-news\/shows-reviews\/gallery\/jw-anderson-resort-2026-collection-1237968411\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JW Anderson<\/a> stores haven\u2019t even reopened, but the site has recently launched, with bestsellers including Murano jugs and sunglass chains made from ancient Greek and Roman beads that the designer bought himself at auction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe chains, which are hand-threaded in London, cost 510 pounds each, and have sold out entirely. The team has done an amazing job, and I am really happy,\u201d Anderson said in an interview ahead of the reopening of his Soho and Milan stores, which have been completely transformed, along with the brand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s an exciting moment, things are changing and home has become more important than ever. If we sell something, I want it to be beautifully executed by the right craftsman, by the right person,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAnderson, who revealed his <a data-id=\"1237965392\" data-type=\"post\" href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/fashion-news\/fashion-features\/craft-king-jonathan-anderson-focus-makers-new-jw-anderson-1237965392\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new, lifestyle approach<\/a> in July, said there are more store openings planned in London, Paris and New York. There are also fun cameo appearances from celebs including Bella Freud, Ben Whishaw and <a data-id=\"1202979098\" data-type=\"post\" href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/fashion-news\/fashion-scoops\/feature\/valentino-pierpaolo-piccioli-call-me-by-your-name-luca-guadagnino-movie-project-1202979098\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luca Guadagnino<\/a>, who model the clothes or play with the crafty objects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe website, Anderson said, \u201chas been incredibly well-received. It\u2019s a really new take on how to deal with e-commerce. Each week, we are uploading different things, and so it\u2019s starting to evolve and build. Since launching the website, we\u2019ve already quadrupled\u201d the projected sales. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAnderson is clearly having fun, but there\u2019s also a gravitas to the operation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis fall, he\u2019s launching a special collaboration with Wedgwood to make a collection of teacups, coffee cups and saucers designed by the late British ceramicist Lucie Rie in 1964. They never went into production \u201cbecause they couldn\u2019t make them the way that she wanted them to be done,\u201d Anderson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe approached Wedgwood with the idea of reviving Rie\u2019s original designs \u201cmaking them locally, and with different craftspeople. It was a kind of anchor point for me to be able to do this collaboration. Each piece is formed by hand, then high-fired to create a matte, tactile finish, according to Wedgwood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAnderson describes Rie as one of the greatest potters of the 20th century. \u201cI\u2019ve been collecting her work for many years, and I think she would be thrilled to see these pieces finally brought to life, especially in a charitable context.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tEmma Glynn, creative director of Wedgwood, said the main reason why Rie\u2019s pieces were never produced is because of the complexity of the white inlay technique they require.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s incredibly delicate and skilled work, but we\u2019ve proven with this collaboration that those challenges can be overcome. It just takes time, care and a level of commitment that this project has really allowed us all to embrace,\u201d Glynn said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tGlynn had already worked with Anderson many years ago, and said he \u201chas this ability to completely pull you into his world. He\u2019s a genuine collector of ceramics, but what makes him unique is his honesty. His ideas are instinctive, intuitive, and that\u2019s what makes them resonate.\u201d She said his \u201cenergy is infectious, and it\u2019s why this collaboration feels so relevant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe collaboration is raising 200,000 pounds for the Lucy Rie estate, for a catalogue raisonn\u00e9, and to support the work of the Lucie Rie and Hans Coper Foundation. They\u2019re done in bold color combinations such as chocolate brown and black, and contrasting shades of yellow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAnderson said he\u2019s always loved Wedgwood and has long admired its founder Josiah Wedgwood, a designer, pottery manufacturer and abolitionist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cHe was probably one of the biggest modern thinkers of the 18th century. He changed the landscape in Britain, and was very important in the abolition of slavery. And the way in which he reinterpreted Greek mythology within ceramics was revolutionary,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAnderson said he\u2019s been collecting different styles of Greek mugs for years, and is fascinated that \u201csomething which is thousands of years old can have such a contemporary edge. And I also wanted to do two shades of color because Wedgwood is very famous for doing these explorations on color.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAnderson has an endless love of craft.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDuring his tenure as creative director of Loewe, he let his passion for craft run free.
