\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/TGEJPJMBINDOBDV5LI5X2AIATA.jpeg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/student-lets-coming-to-belfasts-leafy-suburbs-thanks-to-strict-hmo-rules-THJ7GHOY5RAQZP4QUY6KYK3D7Q\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Student lets coming to Belfast&#x2019;s leafy suburbs &#x2018;thanks to strict HMO rules&#x2019;\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/AWM3ZPVV4JLJFH4DKBT72P6XMM.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The benefit is typically paid every four weeks into a bank account and there is no limit on the number of children parents can claim for.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">If claimants or their partner earn between \u00a360,000 and \u00a380,000, the higher earner will be subject to a High Income Child Benefit Charge, with families able to use the online Child Benefit tax calculator.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"One parent in Northern Ireland was told they would need to wait until March for a reply on their application.\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/TK4BHN2VFJGO7CXIYAXKLRKRHQ.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"1539\"\/>One parent in Northern Ireland was told they would need to wait until March for a reply on their application. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Responding, an HMRC spokesperson said: \u201cOnline claims can be processed in as little as three days and are backdated to the date they were made as a minimum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The \u2018Where\u2019s My Reply tool\u2019 on GOV.UK reflects the longest time people can expect to wait.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">HMRC added that an error with the tool had caused the timescales to be wrong but this has now been fixed. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In a separate development this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/uk\/bid-to-scrap-two-child-benefit-cap-supported-by-mps-PPAXWEEZPFKUFIXHCRL3QTIKEQ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/uk\/bid-to-scrap-two-child-benefit-cap-supported-by-mps-PPAXWEEZPFKUFIXHCRL3QTIKEQ\/\">MPs in Westminster backed the first stage of legislation to scrap the two-child benefit cap.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">While phrased in the same way, this is different to child benefits as it applies to the limit for low-income families claiming Universal Credit or Tax Credits &#8211;
