A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the death of another teenager in south Manchester this week. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at Manchester Magistrates\u2019 Court on Saturday (September 20).<\/p>\n
Tributes were paid to Mohanad Abdullaahi Goobe, 15, who died after he was stabbed Moss Lane East in Moss Side<\/a> just after 4.30pm on Monday night (September 15).<\/p>\n Police say that ongoing enquiries have identified a potentially linked incident that they responded to at Whitworth Park half an hour before Goobe’s death.<\/p>\n GMP has referred their response to this incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as a mandatory referral.<\/p>\n Never miss a story with the MEN’s daily Catch Up newsletter – get it in your inbox by signing up here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Chief Superintendent David Meeney, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: \u201cOur thoughts remain with Mohanad\u2019s family at this time and we are focused on getting all the answers for them.<\/p>\n \u201cAs a result of prior contact before Mohanad\u2019s death, we have made a mandatory referral to the IOPC. We have kept the family updated and continue to support them.<\/p>\n \u201cOur investigators have been working around the clock and during this investigation we have undertaken several warrants in relation to this incident as part of our commitment to getting justice for Mohanad and his family.<\/p>\n \u201cOur Major Incident Portal remains open and we are keen for anyone who has information relation to this incident to please come forward.\u201d<\/p>\n Join the Manchester Evening News <\/strong>WhatsApp<\/strong> group <\/strong>HERE<\/a><\/p>\n Howard Gough of the Crown Prosecution Service said: \u201cThe Crown Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute a 15-year-old boy for murder, following a police investigation into a large-scale disturbance on September 15 2025 on Monton Street, near Whitworth Park in Moston<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cOur prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings.
