More than 100 airport support staff at Edinburgh<\/a> have overwhelmingly backed a new pay offer putting a stop to strike action this month.<\/p>\n

The support staff, employed by OCS Group, provide crucial assistance for passengers with reduced mobility, including those needing wheelchairs and specialist vehicles to board planes.<\/a><\/p>\n

Unite the Union<\/a> has confirmed a two-year pay deal has been overwhelmingly supported by the OCS workers which represents a significant improvement on previous offers from the company.<\/p>\n

The workers will receive a 6.1 per cent increase on hourly rates effective from January 1 this year alongside a boost to the overtime rate.<\/p>\n

In 2026, a five per cent increase on hourly rates will run from January 1 alongside improvements to the company sick pay scheme.<\/p>\n

Unite\u2019s OCS membership had unanimously backed strike action<\/a> in a ballot with a turnout of over 90 per cent.<\/p>\n

The workers were scheduled to take part in strikes during September but action was suspended after the union received an enhanced pay offer from OCS.<\/p>\n

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: \u201cUnite\u2019s OCS membership were fully prepared to fight back through strike action, to secure a fair pay deal. It was this strong stance which forced the company to make an improved offer.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a good deal which shows Unite once again delivering better jobs, pay and conditions for Scotland’s airport workers.\u201d<\/p>\n
