House prices are important, as\u00a0is your commute, the number of decent\u00a0schools, and the quality of public transport. You also want to\u00a0be assured\u00a0that you\u2019ll feel safe wherever you end up. To help you figure that last bit out, the\u00a0safest areas the UK, according security training platform\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.get-licensed.co.uk\/reports\/city-safety-index?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Get Licensed<\/a>, have just been revealed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To create the ranking,\u00a0Get Licensed looked at factors like crime rate per 1,000 people, year-on-year change in crime severity, reoffending\u00a0rates, the number of CCTV cameras in public spaces and the number of licensed security personnel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The list of the UK\u2019s top 10 safest places is mostly occupied by areas of London. Only four places outside of the capital city made the cut.\u00a0While the south London town of\u00a0Sutton was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/news\/the-south-london-area-that-is-officially-the-safest-place-to-live-in-britain-091525\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declared the safest place in the country<\/a>, the Shropshire borough of <strong>Telford and Wrekin<\/strong> came a close second.<\/p>\n<p>Telford and Wrekin\u00a0was given an overall safety score of 8 out of 10 thanks to a low annual crime rate of 76.5 offences per 1,000 people, a year-on-year decrease in crime of 7.53 and a particularly high\u00a0share\u00a0of public CCTV cameras \u2013 533 per 100,000 people compared to Sutton\u2019s 230. That\u2019s the fourth highest of all the areas included in the index and, Get Licensed said, means that \u2018if a crime is committed, it\u2019s highly likely to be caught on camera\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The only other non-London areas to make it into the top 10 were <strong>Dundee<\/strong> at number four, <strong>Swindon<\/strong> at number six and <strong>Slough<\/strong> (supposedly the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/uk\/news\/i-grew-up-in-the-most-miserable-town-in-the-uk-this-is-what-its-really-like-121724\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">most \u2018miserable\u2019 town in the country<\/a>) at number eight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"8c01be4a-99fc-072f-1632-9b34506ec517\" class=\"photo lazy inline\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"lazy-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1758335187_510_image.webp.webp\" alt=\"Dundee, Scotland\" data-caption=\"Dundee, Scotland\" data-credit=\"Photograph: Shutterstock\" data-width-class=\"\" data-image-id=\"106321381\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\nPhotograph: ShutterstockDundee, Scotland&#13;<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to the UK\u2019s least safe spots,\u00a0seven places outside of London were named and shamed. They were Nottingham, Bristol, Blackpool, Middlesborough, Newcastle, Leicester and Manchester.
