Liverpool is bracing for heavy showers this weekend as the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain<\/a>. The alert will be in effect from 9am on Saturday, September 20, with the weather agency urging people to prepare for potentially disruptive weather conditions.<\/p>\n It comes after the Met Office has confirmed the first name to be used for a storm in the 2025\/2026 season will be Amy. However, it has not officially assigned the name ‘Storm Amy’ <\/a>to the wet and windy weather<\/a> expected this weekend. The meteorological body has instead issued a yellow warning for rain, with the worst conditions expected to hit the north of England.<\/a><\/p>\n It is forecast that a “band of rain, heavy at times, across Wales, northern England and southern Scotland is expected to remain slow-moving during Saturday morning before making erratic eastward progress, eventually clearing early on Sunday.”<\/p>\n Around 20-30 mm of rain is “likely to fall quite widely” and there is a chance that 60-80 mm of rain could fall in places. These higher accumulations may not be confined to high ground only. Due to this uncertainty, further changes to the warning area are possible, the Met Office said.<\/p>\n As the area of rain clears east, a spell of strong winds may develop later Saturday and Sunday morning, most likely towards North Sea coasts.<\/p>\n Gusts of 45-55 mph are expected widely inland, with gusts of 60-70 mph possible at times along exposed coasts and hills.
